Farmers' Market Season Is Back: Where Mead Residents Go for Produce, Flowers, and a Saturday Morning Out
One of the honest trade-offs of living in Mead, Colorado, is that we don't have a grocery store, and we don't have a farmers' market either. What we do have is a really good location. From most of Mead, you can be standing in front of a vendor's tomato table in fifteen to twenty minutes in almost any direction. And as of this weekend, market season is fully back on the Front Range.

Mead Doesn't Have Its Own Farmers' Market; Where to Find One
.
The Closest Saturday Market: Longmont
The Longmont Farmers' Market at the Boulder County Fairgrounds is the one most Mead residents I know default to. It's the closest, it's the biggest, and it runs the longest season.
When: Saturdays, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., April 4 through November 21, 2026
Where: Boulder County Fairgrounds, corner of Hover Street and Boston Avenue in Longmont (about a 15-minute drive from Mead)
What to expect: Over 100 vendors, growers-only (every product is made or grown by the person selling it), free parking on-site
It's also an all-weather; per the Boulder County Farmers Markets, they're open unless conditions are genuinely dangerous, so a little rain doesn't cancel anyone's plans. If you're a Mead resident who wants the closest "real" market with a deep vendor list, this is it.
Berthoud: Small-Town Saturday Morning
The Berthoud Market at Fickel Park runs Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon, and it has the small-town feel that a lot of Mead families are actually looking for on a weekend; fewer vendors, more time to talk to them, kids running around on the grass.
The town has also been adjusting its market calendar. According to the Town of Berthoud, what used to be the Friday Berthoud Farmer's Market is now the Fickel Farmer's Market on Thursday evenings, with the Town stepping in to manage it. So depending on the week, you can do a Thursday-evening run in Berthoud and still hit Longmont on Saturday morning.
A Bigger Trip: Fort Collins
For a slower Saturday or a brunch-after kind of morning, the Larimer County Farmers' Market in downtown Fort Collins is worth the longer drive. The market runs Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., May 16 through October 31, 2026, at the Larimer County Administrative Building on West Oak Street. Larimer County Extension is celebrating the market's 50th season this year, which says something about how rooted it is.
It's a real downtown setting: you park, you walk, you end up at Old Town Square with a coffee, and you talk yourself into a pastry. Plan for about 35-;45 minutes each way from Mead, depending on I-25 traffic.
Sundays in Loveland
The City of Loveland Farmers' Market at Fairgrounds Park runs Sundays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., June 7 through September 27, 2026, at 700 South Railroad Avenue. For Mead households where Saturday is for sports or yardwork, a Sunday market changes the whole equation. Opening day this year is paired with Loveland Open Lands' Bike to the Market Day on June 7, and the artist markets, the last Sunday of each month, add 15 extra local artisans on top of the regular grower lineup.
What to Bring; What to Leave at Home
Cash or card, both work in most places. Many vendors at all four markets now accept cards, and SNAP/EBT is accepted on-site at the Loveland market.
The dog stays home. Both BCFM markets allow only service animals- this is the most common surprise for new visitors.
Bring a real bag. Reusable totes hold more weight, and you'll buy more than you planned to.
The first few weeks are slow on produce. Mid-May is mostly greens, starts, eggs, flowers, and bread. Heavier produce builds out through June and July.
If you're new to the area, a market trip is one of the better ways to get a feel for the town next door - Longmont, Berthoud, Loveland, and Fort Collins all show up a little differently on a Saturday morning than they do from a real estate listing.
