A few free, community-minded events land in the first half of the month, and then the back-to-school countdown takes over. If you like to plan your weeks a little ahead, here's what's worth putting on the fridge, ordered by what's soonest.
National Night Out — Tuesday, August 5, Mead Town Park
This is the big one this week. Mead's National Night Out runs Tuesday, August 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Mead Town Park. It's the annual evening where neighbors get to meet the people who show up when you call: Mead Police, Mountain View Fire Rescue, and the town's Public Works crew are all part of it. Per the Town of Mead, the night includes vehicle displays, kids' activities, food, yard games, and live entertainment. Back-to-school countdown — first day August 18
